Large-diameter foam mooring buoy of WAHLE MARINE PRODUCT CO., LTD has successfully completed the on-site third-party factory inspection conducted by Bureau Veritas (BV). The official BV inspection report grants authoritative international qualification certification to this Chinese-built marine buoy, verifying that its craftsmanship and performance meet global maritime inspection standards and winning quality recognition from worldwide port and shipping buyers.
As a full member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), Bureau Veritas maintains comprehensive inspection specifications for marine floating bodies, fenders and mooring accessories. BV independent third-party inspection reports serve as a critical market-access credential for global maritime purchasers, widely adopted for quality verification of port facilities, ocean-going vessels and offshore engineering equipment.
This factory inspection followed BV’s standard workflow for Industry & Facilities Division third-party surveillance. Judged against technical specifications from the purchase order, the audit focused on two core segments: 100% visual examination and 100% dimensional verification. The permitted dimensional tolerance was set at ±5%. All inspection activities required full traceability and photographic documentation. Measuring instruments must stay within valid calibration cycles to prevent non-conforming units from being delivered to overseas project sites.
1. 100% Visual Inspection The foam buoy, with nominal dimension 1620 mm diameter × 2920 mm length, underwent complete surface assessment. The high-visibility orange outer shell showed smooth finishing without bubbles, cracks or impact scars. Metallic lifting lugs and end flange structures remained intact with sound coating condition. Visual assessment was marked acceptable, with on-site photos archived as supporting evidence.
2. 100% Dimensional Measurement A calibrated 0-20 m tape measure (calibration valid until Jun 08, 2027) was deployed for physical measurement. Actual measured diameter reached 1639 mm and actual length 2964 mm. Both readings fell within the ±5% tolerance range defined in the purchase order; dimensional inspection result was acceptable.
3. Non-conformity & Punch List Review No open non-conformities or outstanding punch-list items were identified throughout the audit. Final inspection result: Satisfactory
This heavy-duty solid foam buoy delivers permanent buoyancy from its foam core, differing from inflatable floaters. Its seawater-resistant outer skin is fitted with heavy-duty metal lifting lugs and flange connections, performing vital functions across global shipping scenarios:
1. Off-shore Mooring Points: Acting as offshore mooring buoys for bulk carriers and tankers where berth facilities are unavailable, easing pressure on congested port terminals.
2. Berthing Energy Absorption & Anti-collision Protection: Functioning as integrated fender units. Floating with tide levels, it absorbs impact energy during vessel berthing and protects both ship hulls and offshore port infrastructures.
3. Ship-to-Ship Transfer Operations: Serving as buffer floating units during alongside cargo transshipment, mitigating direct hull-to-hull collision risks.
4. Waterway and Offshore Project Support: Can be retrofitted with navigation lights and sensing modules for channel marking or hazard warning within offshore wind and oil-gas construction zones, suitable for harsh near-shore and open-sea wave conditions.
Global port and shipping sectors keep raising quality thresholds for buoys and floating fenders. Maritime projects across Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East commonly require third-party survey documents issued by classification societies such as BV as pre-conditions of supply contracts.
